A 2018 year end post that is long overdue, mainly to align with the release from social media ban, which I experienced frequently last year. Honestly, I do not know if it is a good thing or a bad thing.
Having said that, I am tremendously proud with what I have created. 2018 has been a busy and hectic year. Other than the significant increase of photography work, I started teaching workshop (The Calm and The Chaos) and being one of the instructor at the very first Camp Do More 2018. The experience is absolutely amazing. Combining my professional engineer working experiences and my passion in photography, I have crafted a course that is uniquely “Boon” and received a lot of positive feedbacks from all attendees. By popular demand, I am being invited again to teach at the Camp Do More 2019 this June.
Coming back to photography work, while compiling the storyboard for this year end post, I have realized a big switch of intention while approaching intimate lifestyle sessions. Part of it was due to some of the emotional hurdles and sexual exploration that I have gone through in my personal life, I have pushed a significant boundary outside of my comfort zone in many aspects. The other part of the switch was mainly the opportunity of meeting and working with many unique individuals, which some have turned into valuable friendships. This is by luck and something that I feel extremely grateful of.
Moving into 2019, the first big announcement is my photography work will be featured in Exposure Photography Festival, Albertaâs one and only photography festival for the entire February 2019, featuring many international & local artists in galleries across Alberta. My photos will be displayed right at the Exposure Festival HQ, from February 5 – 28 2019, held in the historic Pioneer Building, located on Stephen Avenue in downtown Calgary. (Address: 117 8th Ave SW, Calgary, Alberta). Iâm so thrilled with this showcase because it has always been my dream that one day Iâll have my very own solo show. This is a baby step but itâs already a significant step forward. Come check it out if you are in Calgary!
Last but not least, I do want to express my gratitude for everyone who has been following and enjoying my work, all the beautiful souls who I have met and working together. Thank you so much for believing in me, most importantly the friendship that we have built.
2019 is the year of me turning 40. The goal is to live life, spark joy, continue to push boundaries and keeping the motto – simple, honest and truthful.
